Kurt Von Weisenstein Awarded Rank of Eagle Scout

On January 5, 2008, BSA Troop 49, Oakland, NJ, honored one of their scouts at an Eagle Scout ceremony. Kurt Von Weisenstein was the recipient of this prestigious award.

The award is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well-maintained over the years. Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 1.7 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting--citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness--remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.

The members of VFW Post 5702 are proud to recognize this young man who has worked very hard to attain this award. Our post issued aVFW Eagle Scout certificate and a monetary award to the recipient.

If anyone would like to donate to our 2007/2008 projects it would be very helpful. This year we are raising money for the Fisher House Foundation at Walter Reed Hospital and for The Wounded Warrior Project.
