VFW District 2 Commander Achieves
All American Status

On July 15, 2009, The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States announced that Walter S. Vreeland had achieved All American Status as Commander of District 2 (Bergen County) in the VFW Department of New Jersey.
According to National VFW Commander Glen Gardner, “Vreeland, Commander of District 2, in the Department of New Jersey is one of only 62 VFW Commanders world-wide selected for All American Commander. The criteria for this honor are based on outstanding achievements in membership growth and participation in other VFW programs that benefit veterans and their communities. The title of All American Commander is the most prestigious honor given by our organization.”
When asked about his reaction to the award, Vreeland responded: “I am both pleased and honored by the award, and would like to thank the Commanders of the various posts in District 2 for their hard work which led to the opportunity for me to achieve All American Commander status. It also took a great deal of time and effort on the part of people in leadership positions at District 2,” he continued, “and I certainly would not have received the award without their professionalism, dedication, and assistance. While my name is on the award, it is really a testament to the types of people we have in our organization and their dedication to serving veterans, their communities, and their nation. ”
Walter S. Vreeland is past Commander of Franklin Lakes, NJ VFW Post 5702, and is the current Senior Vice Commander of Post 5702.
If anyone would like to donate to our 2007/2008 projects it would be very helpful. This year we are raising money for the Fisher House Foundation at Walter Reed Hospital and for The Wounded Warrior Project.
