On June 11, 2006, Eric Hertel, Troop 49, Oakland, New Jersey, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony took place at the Northern New Jersey Council Service Center on Ramapo Valley Rd., Oakland.

The membership of VFW Post 5702 presented Scout Hertel with an Eagle Scout Certificate from the post and a monetary award.
